Townies Eliminate Toll Gate 6-1 - Face LaSalle in Division I Quarterfinal Friday

East Providence handled Toll Gate 6-1 in opening round playoff action at Pierce Stadium on Wednesday, May 29th. Seth Daly pitched the distance for the Townies to gain the complete game victory. Daly had 8 strikeouts and gave up no earned runs. Zack Fanara and Julian Reis each had two key hits for EP.

The 12-7 Townies will take on the favored 16-2 LaSalle Rams. The two rivals will play a 2:30 pm game on Friday, May 31st at LaSalle in Providence. LaSalle's two losses came at the hands of Portsmouth and South Kingstown earlier in the season. LaSalle comes into the East Providence game well rested, having last played in a win over North Kingstown on May 22nd. LaSalle leads Division I-B at 16-2 followed by South Kingstown at 16-4 and Portsmouth at 13-7.

Bishop Hendricken leads Division I-A with an 18-2 record, followed by 2nd place Cumberland at 13-6 and 3rd place East Providence at 12-7. Hendricken lost to Catholic Memorial and Xaverian Brothers. Two of their closest games were 4-2 and 2-0 wins over East Providence.
