The Autism Project's Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day

Posted

The Autism Project will host its seventeenth annual Imagine Walk & Family Fun Day for Autism on Sunday, April 28th at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick, Rhode Island.
Registration for the Walk begins at 9AM and Honorary Imagine Walk Chair Danielle North of WPRI 12 will kick off the Walk at 10AM. The two kilometer walk will be followed by a family fun day complete with bounce houses, obstacle courses, pony rides, music, face-painting, arts & crafts, a sensory tent, delicious food, and more.

The Imagine Walk is open to the public, and all are invited to attend to support the over 10,000 individuals in Rhode Island with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  All proceeds from the Imagine Walk help to fund direct services for children, teens, and young adults with an ASD, their families, and the teachers and professionals who serve them.

Imagine Walk fundraising teams can be created by going to www.bit.ly/ImagineWalk2019.

The first Imagine Walk in 2002 hosted approximately 500 participants. This year, we expect over 8,700 parents, kids, caregivers and friends to join in The Walk.

The Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day for Autism has raised well over one million dollars for individuals with an ASD and their families to date.

One parent summed up why she participates in the Imagine Walk each year: "I walk because my son lives in a world that sees his areas of need, but not his strengths. I walk because I've been my son's translator, guide, teacher, and advocate, but I won't be here forever. I walk because of all the resources, conferences, and professionals I have met on my autism journey ─ none compare to The Autism Project. We walk because we imagine the possibilities.
