Sophia (Sumoski) Pipka

Sophia (Sumoski) Pipka, 93 of Haliburton Rd. passed away on Thursday May 31st at Tockwotton on the Waterfront Nursing Home.

She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Pipka.

Born in Warren, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Sumoski, along with her sisters Sara, Jane, and Genevieve.

She lived in Warren with her parents and worked at the Grinell Corporation for many years until marrying Stephen in August 1966, where they settled in Rumford.

Sophia was very active in the Providence Preservation Society where she volunteered as a docent, along with other activities.

Sophia loved interior design, an interest she shared with her daughter-in-law Becky, along with gardening and cooking. She was an avid reader, which she found comforting later in life.

Sophia leaves her loving step son Randy and his wife Becky of Dallas, Tx, grandsons, Josh and Jordan Pipka also of Dallas, her nephew, Jimmy Wojtyto and his wife Lynn, of Barrington, her great niece Bethany Goldberg and great nephew Brian Goldberg.

Her funeral and visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave, East Providence, with a service to follow at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
