Sandra Lyn, “Sandy” (Hazel), (Henderson) Bell, age 64, of East Providence, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at The Coventry Health Center after a courageous recurring battle with cancer surrounded by her loving daughters.

Sandy was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Eleanor (Vaillancourt) Hazel. She was also like a daughter to her late Uncle, Henry Vaillancourt. Sandy lived in East Providence/Riverside for the last 28 years. Before that, she lived Rehoboth and Taunton, Massachusetts. She was a 1972 graduate of Coyle & Cassidy High School.

Sandy was a free spirit. She was kind, resilient, strong, and beautiful. She loved all animals – especially her cat “Chinsy” and her 3 fish “Rubin, Ruby, and Rupert.” Sandy was a very talented seamstress, cook, and fish tank keeper. Sandy also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Sandy was the mother of the late Morgan Henderson. She is survived by her daughters: Stephanie Henderson-Olive of Riverside and Shannon Costa (along with her husband Jorge of East Providence), her sisters: Patricia “Patti” Vaillancourt of East Providence and Veronica “Ronnie” Reynolds of Ocala, Florida, as well as her 9 beloved grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Martha's Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and encouraged to wear something pink in her honor. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
