Roger F. Bernier

Roger F. Bernier, 93, passed away peacefully Sunday April 30, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Rita (Roy) Bernier to whom he was married for 69 years. Born in Lewiston, ME he was a son of the late Adolphe and Exilia (Nolin) Bernier. Roger worked as a bus driver for Greyhound for 30 years and then worked for Conway Tours for 17 years. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a Purple Heart Recipient, and also a life member of the VFW in Maine. His family enjoyed his many stories and the way he was a practical joker. In addition to his wife he is survived by seven children, Sandra Ferguson and her husband David of FL, Susan Dietz and her husband William of ME, Sharon Moura and her husband Bill of East Providence, Stephen Bernier and his wife Lorie of Swansea, Sheila Correia and her husband Manuel of Glocester, Scott Bernier of CA and his companion Joann, Sonya Moniz and her husband Arthur of Seekonk, fourteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his 6 siblings. His funeral will be held on Monday May 8, 2017 at 9 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home 2555 Pawtucket Avenue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Martha’s Church 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be held in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7PM.
