Robert L. “Bob” Boyd, 91, of Bullocks Point Avenue, Riverside Terrace, Riverside, died peacefully on October 14, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Constance (Carey) Boyd.

Born in Providence, a son of the late George and Florence (Steere) Boyd, he lived in Riverside since 1956.

Mr. Boyd was a baker for the Ward Baking Co. for 34 years before retiring in 1983. He was a past President of the Bakery Workers Union Local # 184 for 27 years. He also worked at the Riverside Self-Help Center for 11 years.

Robert was a communicant of St. Brendan’s Church. A sports enthusiast, he played semi-pro football, was a NASCAR fan and was a devoted fan of the New York Giants football team. He was a former coach of the Rhode Island Hockey Boys & Girls Association.

Mr. Boyd was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Besides his wife of 70 years, he is survived by seven children, Kenneth R. Boyd and his wife Lois of Riverside, Maureen P. Boyd of Riverside, Victoria A. Boyd of Riverside, Timothy R. Boyd of Riverside, Terrance X. Boyd of Riverside, Roseanne Cazeault and her husband Joseph of Nashville, TN and Stephen M. Boyd and his wife Helen of Bristol; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Thomas J. Boyd and brother of the late George E. Boyd III and Glenda Boyd.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday October 20, 2020 in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
