Robert D. Nickerson, 84, of Brook Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on February 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Marilyn S. (McConnell) Nickerson.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Leon and Anna (Keefe) Nickerson, he was a lifelong resident of East Providence.

Mr. Nickerson was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service at the Riverside branch for 30 years before retiring in 1992.

Robert was a member of the East Providence Elks Club and the East Providence Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by two sons, Dale R. Nickerson and his wife Kristine of Foster and David L. Nickerson and his wife Jody of Fall River, MA and two grandchildren. He was the father of the late Gary A. Nickerson and brother of the late Albert Nickerson, Helen McCarty and Leona Tessar.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 27, 2018 in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Rumford Cemetery, Rumford. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
