Richard R. Cordeiro Sr., 82, of East Providence, passed away suddenly Tuesday evening, April 2, 2019. He was a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Sousa) Cordeiro. He was the brother of the late Manuel Cordeiro Jr. and Dorothy Bulcao. He was the husband of the late Kathleen (McKenney) Cordeiro. Through their dedication and love they were able to raise their family. Their family is made up of, Richard R Cordeiro Jr. and his wife Karen, Valerie Costa and her husband Joe, grandchildren, Andrew and Leigh Ann Cordeiro, Nicole McIntosh and her husband Ian and Jessica Melo and her husband David. He was a devoted grandfather and was elated to be a great grandfather to five.

Richard grew up in Fox Point where his family operated a business, “Richie’s Spa" for which he was the namesake. He played soccer for Fox Point Teams and was later inducted into the Fox Point Soccer Hall of Fame.

Richard dedicated his life to his family. Family meant everything to him and he lived his life with Kathleen making many happy memories vacationing in New Hampshire and Florida with family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews as “Uncle Dick”.

He retired in the late 1980's from Texas Instruments, Attleboro as a Shipper. Once he retired, besides spending time with his family and friends, he became an avid "walker" and could be seen many days traversing East Providence. He was also a big sports fan. His favorites were PC Basketball and New England major sports teams.

Richard will be missed for his sense of humor and loving presence.

His funeral will begin Monday, April 8, at 9:00 a.m. from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Church, Pawtucket Ave., Rumford. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 7, from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m.
