Norma D. Walker-Nass

Norma D. Walker-Nass of East Providence, formerly of North Providence, Johnston, and Glocester, died on December 8, 2017 at Linn Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Ernest “Gub” Walker and mother of the late Capt. Ronald D. Nass, USAF. Born in North Providence, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ellen (Hilton) Duckworth.



Mrs. Walker was a 1938 graduate of Hope High School in Providence and attended Bryant &Stratton College in Providence. She was a bookkeeper at Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corporation in Lincoln for ten years, retiring in 1988 and previously had worked at numerous places, including Nationwide Insurance, RI Textile, and Rumford Chemical Corporation.



Norma was a past president of the James L. McGuire PTA, North Providence, a member of the North Providence Natatorium since its inception in 1987, and a member of the Fruit Hill Junior Women’s Club.



An amateur oil and water color artist, Mrs. Walker had exhibited at the Wickford Art Festival, the Providence Art Club, and had won first prize at the North Providence Bicentennial Contest in 1965. In 2009, Norma moved to Winslow Gardens, where she participated in numerous volunteer projects.



Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 10 am in the chapel at Linn Health Care Center, 30 Alexander Ave., East Providence.
