Navigius "Novi" Hamel Jr., 89 of Riverside, R.I., passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Hope Hospice, Providence, R.I., he was the husband of the late Natalie R. (Rose) Hamel

Born January 4, 1933, in East Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Navigius, Sr., & Mary (Mello) Hamel

A Korean Veteran he served with the United States Marine Corps for three years retiring as Corporal, he was honored the Navy Occupation Medal and National Defense Service Ribbon.

After Mr. Hamel retired from the Military, he went on to work for American Insulated wire for thirty-three years retiring as foreman.

He was a Communicant of Saint Francis Xavier Church in East Providence, R.I., a Choir Member, Eucharistic Minister. A CCD Teacher at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Providence, R.I., Eucharistic Minister and was an Instructor for Marriage Preparation for the church and a camera man for "Looking at Our faith"

He leaves three children, Linda M. Radny of South Attleboro, MA., Lorie A. Hamel of Kent, WA, Natalie Hamel of Riverside, R.I., two sisters, Teresia Chase of Winter Park, Florida, Antoinette "Ann" Needham of East providence, R.I., one granddaughter, Shalia Rose Pierce Hamel of Kent, WA. Mr. Hamel was the brother of the late late Loretta Hamel,

His funeral will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 7:45 am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, R.I., to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Saint Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence, R.I., Burial with Millitary Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, R.I.,

Calling Hours will be held Friday from 3:00-6:00 pm in the Rebello Funeral Home, MASKS REQUIRED
