Mary Elizabeth O’Reilly

Mary Elizabeth O’Reilly, age 93, of Columbia MD, formerly of Rumford, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 9, 2023.

Mary Elizabeth was born on March 18, 1930, to John Patrick and Grace Wilhelmina Hanley in Pawtucket, RI. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and Katherine Gibbs and worked for many years at Jeanne Jugan Residence. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Feisthamel of Westerly and Kathleen Wittlif and her spouse Michael of Columbia, MD, and her granddaughters, Grace and Catherine. Mary was a devout Catholic and an active communicant of St Margaret’s Church. Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed the beaches of RI and Cape Cod and was an avid reader of history and biographies. Her kindness, loving nature and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. She is predeceased by her parents, John Patrick and Grace Wilhelmina Hanley, her sister, Margo Natvig(Ralph) and her daughter, Margaret Mary O’Reilly. She is survived by her sisters, Grace Barnett(Donald), Johanne Caparco(Michael), Kathleen Ricci(Raymond) and Marita Devine(Gilbert) along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Mary on Wednesday, December 27, at 11:00 a.m., at Saint Margaret’s Church, Rumford with Fr. Damien Day presiding. The Rite of Committal will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
