Louis V. Newsham, 91 passed away Thursday November 2, 2017. Born in Providence he was a son of the late Albert Newsham and Victoria (Constant) Bart. Louis worked for many years for Town Tire Inc. and Wholesale Tire Inc. in East Providence before becoming the owner & operator of Louie’s Citgo on Warren Avenue, East Providence and Louie’s Sales. He was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of the East Providence Council Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society at Saint Francis Xavier Church, former member of VFW Primer-Cordeiro Post, Teamsters Local 251, an avid dancer, and E.P. Senior Center. He was also one of the original members of P.O.P. (Parents on Patrol) which was a group of parents that supervised kids at night to keep them off the street. Louie is survived by five children Louis Newsham of Nokomis, FL, Eileen Seguin of Cumberland, Gerald Newsham of Cranston, Michael Newsham of Warwick, Judy Rosa of Rehoboth, nine grandchildren Cheryl, Cynthia, John, Christopher, Julie, Kelly, Kayla, Nicole, Michael, eight great-grandchildren Jessica, Skylar, Sydnee, Emma, Graydin, Madeline, Jaxson, and James, and the companion of Dolores Paquin for 20 years. He was the brother of the late George and Albert Newsham. His funeral will be held on Tuesday November 7, 2017 at 11 AM in the Perry-McStay Funeral Home 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the East Providence Senior Center.
