Laura L. de Escobar, 92, of South Burlington Vermont, formerly of Dover Avenue, East Providence passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019. She was the wife of the late Gabriel S. de Escobar.

Born in Cedros, Faial, Azores, she was a daughter of the late José Garcia & Maria Amelia (Escobar) de Lacerda. Laura was an assembler for the American Insulated Wire for 29 years before she retired. Mrs. de Escobar was communicant of St. Martha’s Church and a member of the Rosary & Altar Society.

She leaves behind three daughters, Maria da Conceicão Lacerda de Escobar Styger and her husband Robert of Merrimack, MA, Maria Gabriela Reinhardt, V.M.D. of Bristol and her late husband Peter, Fern Davignon and her husband Phillip Davignon, M.D. of Williston, VT, one son Gabriel Lacerda de Escobar and his wife Debra of Kingston, NH, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Eduardo de Lacerda of Delaware and Filomena Dutra of Long Island, NY. She was the sister of the late Carlos de Lacerda, Maria Andrade, Albertina Dutra, José de Lacerda, Manuel de Lacerda, Alberto de Lacerda and Antonio de Lacerda.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5-8 PM.
