Kathleen N. “Kate” Maher

Kathleen N. “Kate” Maher, 92, of Julie Ann Circle, Riverside, died peacefully on November 9, 2020.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, a daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (King) Maher, she lived in Riverside for 41 years.

Ms. Maher was a secretary at Rhode Island Hospital for 18 years before retiring in 1994.

Kathleen was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church. She led a deeply spiritual life and was always generous to many charities. She knitted scarfs for the women at the soup kitchen and enjoyed baking wedding cakes. She had an ongoing love for nature, birds and her beloved cats.

She is survived by a brother, Joseph Maher of Dublin, Ireland; two sisters, Patricia Naish also of Dublin, Ireland and Nancy McDonald of Texas. She was a devoted friend of Donna Reel, Liz McGrath and Claire Briggs and many dear relatives friends and neighbors. She was the sister of the late Helen Whalen, Jim Maher and Paddy Maher.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday November 18, 2020 from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martha’s Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday morning 9-10 a.m.
