Summer Reading Challenge
The library is challenging kids, teens, and even adults to keep reading and attending library programs during the summer. Participants can earn a variety of prizes - books, water bottles, stickers, notebooks, Cafe Zara & Borealis coffee coupons, Farmers Market coupons, and raffle tickets for $25 gift cards to stores and restaurants.

Kids Anime Party
Tuesday, July 5, 2:00 at Weaver Library
Watch Sgt. Frog and Bananya and do anime crafts while enjoying Japanese snacks! Cosplay welcome.
Registration required. Ages 8-12.

Coach Glen Costello presents Cup Stacking
Wednesday, July 6, 2:00 at Riverside Library
Do you enjoy games where you have to beat the clock? Join Glenn Costello, Speed Stacks Ambassador of Connecticut, for an introduction to a fast, fun, addicting sport -- Speed Stacking!! Learn the proper mechanics of stacking cups swiftly and accurately and challenge yourself to beat your own stacking times!
Registration required. Ages 8+.

Summer Outdoor Storytimes for toddlers & preschoolers
Wednesdays in July, 10:00-10:30 on the lawn at Weaver Library
Thursdays in July, 10:30-11:00 at Rose Larisa Park
Songs, rhymes, and a story. Weather permitting. Bring a blanket.

Big Blue Blocks at the Weaver Library Farmers Market
Thursdays, June 30 - September 15, 4:00-6:00 on the lawn at Weaver Library
They’re BIG. They’re blue. And they’re baaacckkk! Our famous blue foam blocks are back for the summer.

Read To A Dog
Monday, July 11, 4:00-6:00 @ Weaver Library
Kids can drop in to read to our favorite Cocker Spaniel Danny at Weaver Library on Monday, June 6, 4:00-6:00. Listening to kids read is one of Danny's favorite activities! Parents, bring your child for stress-free reading practice.

Mad Science presents “The Flight Stuff” Show
Tuesday, July 12, 2:00 on the lawn at Weaver Library
This is a highflying outdoor science event that includes airplanes, balloons and rockets!
For families with children ages 4+. Bring a blanket.
This show will be rescheduled in the case of inclement weather.

Mini Piñata Craft
Wednesday, July 13, 2:00 at Riverside Library
Make a Mini Piñata using cups, crepe paper, ribbon, and glue. Candy included!
Registration required. Ages 5+.

Krayon Kiosk
Saturday, July 16, 3:00-4:00 at Weaver Library
Drop by the Children's Area at Weaver Library and explore our new Krayon Kiosk, featuring kid-friendly apps. This month we're spotlighting apps about careers. A Youth Librarian will let you know about this month's featured kids' apps and help with any questions!

Magician Russ Desimone
Tuesday, July 19, 2:00 on the lawn at Weaver Library
Magician Russ DeSimone will amaze you with his magic and humor. You might even see a live rabbit!
For families with children ages 4+. Bring a blanket.

Building Fun
Wednesday, July 20, 2:00-3:00 at Riverside Library
Get creative with our collection of LEGO's and Magna-Tiles, and build alongside other kids who love to build! We will display your creations in the library!

Pumpernickel Puppets
Saturday, July 23, 3:00 on the lawn at Weaver Library
Pumpernickel Puppet presents “Bugsy and Friends.” This show will be presented with a cast of colorful puppet characters, audience participation, live voices and sound effects and fast paced scripts that not only entertain, but stimulate children's imagination and creativity. A demonstration period follows the show giving the audience some insight into what happens behind the scenes.

Raptor Encounter presented by Audubon Society of Rhode Island
Tuesday, July 26, 2:00 on the lawn at Weaver Library
Audubon Raptor Encounters are awe-inspiring events for all ages. Owls and hawks with razor-sharp talons and extraordinary adaptations fascinate both children and adults alike. In addition to close-up visits from feathered friends, participants will learn about raptor behaviors, predators, prey and habitats. Audubon will bring one hawk and two owls for a unique educational experience.

Washer Necklace Craft
Wednesday, July 27, 2:00 at Riverside Library
Use washers, nail polish and string to create a fun necklace.
Registration required. Ages 7+.

Book Bundles
Not sure which books to choose for your child? Try a Book Bundle. Each Book Bundle has five hand-selected books on a topic, plus activities and songs to go with it. Our themes include: trucks, snow, colors, dinosaurs, fire fighters, unicorns, and many more. Geared for ages 2-7.
