Judith A. (Hammarlund) Pangborn, 81, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of Joseph A. Pangborn, Jr. to whom she was married 62 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Charles N. and Helen (Masterson) Hammarlund. Mrs. Pangborn was the owner and operator of the former Hammarlund Florist for several years before she retired. Prior to operating the floral business she was a Special Police Officer for the East Providence Police Department and was also a grammar school teacher for the East Providence and Seekonk School Departments. She was a 1955 graduate of East Providence High School and a 1959 graduate of Rhode Island College of Education. Mrs. Pangborn and her husband spent over 40 years vacationing at the Cape and enjoyed many evenings spent with friends at the local hot spots.

Besides her husband she leaves four children, Kim McLeod and her husband Doug of Johnston, Heather Jeanne Andrade and John of East Providence, Timothy Pangborn and his wife Lynn of Newport and Jonathan Pangborn and his wife Susan of East Providence, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Joseph N. Pangborn, Gregory Pangborn and Christopher Pangborn.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 9:30 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be private. Calling hours Sunday 4-8. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 would be appreciated.
