Jose Vieira, 91, of East Providence, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Esmeria (Furtado) Vieira to whom he was married 66 years.

Born in Lomba Loucao, Sao Miguel, Azores he was a son of the late Manuel Carrelas and Marquinha DaCosta. Mr. Vieira worked for the Martin Copeland Company before he retired. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Besides his wife he leaves six children, Lucy Moniz and her husband Aurelio of Ontario, Canada, Mary Joe Machado and her husband Jose of Seekonk, Jose Carlos Vieira and his wife Helen of East Providence, Susan Watterson and her husband Paul of Florida, Paul Vieira and his wife Sherry of Pawtucket and Peter Vieira and his wife Lola of Pawtucket, sixteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Maria daGraca Pacheco and David Carrelas.

His funeral and visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 9-10 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 79 North Carpenter Street, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
