John E. “Jack” Connors, Jr.

John E. “Jack” Connors, Jr., 74, formerly of East Providence, died peacefully on May 2, 2017 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home, Bristol.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late John E. Connors Sr. and Winifred (Norton) Connors, he lived in East Providence for many years.

Mr. Connors was a former Town Manager for the Town of South Kingstown and a former City Manager for the City of Blacksburg, VA and the City of Newport R.I.

Jack was a graduate of East Providence High School, Providence College and went on to receive a Master’s Degree from the University of Rhode Island.

Mr. Connors was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving as a Second Lt. during the Vietnam Era.

A sports enthusiast, Jack was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by a sister, Maggie Purnell of Asheville, N.C. and cousin’s, Michael Connors of East Providence, Fredrick Connors of Seekonk MA., Nancy Sherren of Providence, Walter B. Norton of Portsmouth and Paula Madriles of El Paso, TX.

His funeral service will be held on Monday May 8, 2017 in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave Riverside at 10:30 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours are Monday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m.
