John E. Bell, Jr.

John E. Bell, Jr., 92, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home. He was the husband of the late Pauline E. (Schenick) Bell.

Born in Nashua, New Hampshire he was a son of the late John and Mary (McAuliffe) Bell. Mr. Bell had a long and distinguished career as a Chef for various restaurants and was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, CT. He began his career at the Biltmore Hotel in Providence from 1959-1961, the Sullivan Steak House in Providence from 1961-1965, the Kirkbray Country Club in Lincoln from 1965-1966, the Coach House in Seekonk from 1966-1968 and the Admiral Inn in Cumberland from 1968-1988. He was a member of the East Providence Senior Center where he was an avid pool player and he also enjoyed playing tennis and golf. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and he enjoyed and developed great friendships while he was living at the Rhode Island Veterans Home. Mr. Bell was also a very devout Catholic.

He leaves three daughters, Susan Bell and her husband Daniel Aponte, Jr., Jennifer Bell-Cole and Cheryl Bell-Abbott and her husband Dennis, three grandchildren, Grace Cole, Casey Abbott and Samuel Abbott and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Bell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Theresa Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
