John A. Buono

John A. Buono 84, of Riverside, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at home. He was the beloved husband of Joan M. (DiCandia) Buono. Born in Naples, Italy, John was a son of the late Giuseppe “Joseph” and Vincenza (Varriale) Buono. He was an Army Veteran. Mr. Buono was an Analytical Chemist at Teknor Apex in Pawtucket for approximately 61 years and worked up until surcoming to his illness 1 month ago. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, a graduate of URI, volunteered as a cub master in the 70’s and mentored young boys who went on to become successful men. John was a little league volunteer. He received an Award of Merit In Recognition of Sustained Superior Professional and/or Leadership Achievement in support of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and its purposes. John received the award while actively serving as a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, in which he served for 20 years. He enjoyed music, fishing, holidays, workand most of all being with his family in the US and Italy.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, John Buono of Pawtucket, Dianne Buono of New York, Lisa Buono-Mone of Riverside, and Joseph Buono of Warwick. John was the cherished grandfather of nine and great grandfather of four. He was the dear brother of Angie Ferranti, Lena Audino, Domenic Buono, and Arthur Buono.

His funeral will be held from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan’s Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment with military honors will take place in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
