Jill W. Owen

Jill W. Owen, 73, of Rumford, died peacefully on June 28, 2017 at Miriam Hospital. Born in Newton, MA, she was a daughter of the late John W. “Buck” Owen & Pauline “Polly” (Fitzsimmons) Owen. She was the step-daughter of the late Barbara Owen.

Jill grew up in Fall River, MA, was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, and attended Dean Junior College. She was a resident of East Providence for over 55 years. Jill was employed with the accounts receivable department at Homestead Baking Co. of Rumford, Royal Packing Co. of East Providence, and A.J. Martin Meat Packing Co. of Warwick until her retirement. She was a bartender at Bovi’s Town Tavern for many years. She enjoyed traveling, dining out, and spending time with her friends.

She leaves her best friend, Lois E. Carlson of Rumford, her sister, Gail Conroy and her husband Henry of Quincy, MA, her step-siblings John Friar II and his wife, Kathleen of Fall River; Janet L. Friar of Sydney, Australia; Peter T. Friar and his wife, Susan of Westport Point; Donald S. Friar, Esq. and his wife, Joanne, of Somerset, her nephew David Raferty, her nieces Diane Carr and Jennifer Vadnais. She also leaves her beloved Yorkie Poo “Jack”, and many dear friends, old and new.

In accordance with Jill’s wishes, her funeral and burial were private. Gifts in her memory to The Jimmy Fund, P.O.
