Jane A Nelson, 93, of Riverside, died peacefully on December 10, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Charles F. Nelson, Jr.

 

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Charles G. and Eilleen A. (Fowler) Maytum, she lived in Riverside for 55 years.

 

Mrs. Nelson was Secretary to the Director of Risk Management at Rhode Island Hospital for 13 years before retiring in 1991. She was a graduate of University of Rhode Island Class of 1994 with the highest distinction.

 

Jane was a volunteer for the Red Cross Nurses Aid, Bradley Hospital, Butler Hospital, a knitter for Woman & Infants Hospital and a Cub Scout Den Mother.

 

Mrs. Nelson was a communicant of St. Brendan’s Church. She was a member of the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art, The Rhode Island Historical Society and St. Anthony’s Guild. She was a WWII “War Worker” at Federal Products. She was a recipient of the Senator Anthony Prize for excellence in Public Schools.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen A. Nelson of Providence; two sons, Mark C. Nelson of Harrington, ME and Matthew J. Nelson of Tiverton; two granddaughters, Sarah J. Starck and Mariah Nelson; four great grandchildren, Matthew, Sydney, Ezra and Zachary and a step granddaughter, Ashlee O’Conner. She was the sister of the late Charles R. Maytum and John F. Maytum.

 

Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday December 17, 2019 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan’s Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
