James Texeira

James Texeira, 81, of Riverside, RI passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born August 4, 1937 in New Bedford, MA to John Teixeira of Camacha, Madeira and Rosa (Fernandes) Teixeira of Canico, Madeira. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Harvard University and Brown University. His career was spent teaching Spanish and Portuguese, mostly at Middletown High School. He also spoke French and Italian. He traveled extensively, collected coins, stamps, post cards and antiques and also loved the theater. James was pre-deceased by his parents, two brothers, John Texeira and Antone Teixeira and his sister Mary Pedro. He is survived by his brother Joseph Teixeira of New Bedford, MA; his sister Dolores Sardinha of Kissimmee, FL; wife Maria Q. Teixeira of New Bedford, MA; son Martin T. Teixeira of Dartmouth, MA; daughter Elizabeth A. Miller and her husband Jeffrey C. Miller of New Bedford, MA and three grandchildren, Kyle J. Miller of Brockton, MA; Brooke E. Miller of New Bedford, MA and Nathan J. Miller of Taunton, MA as well as seven nieces and one nephew. His funeral service will be held on Thursday November 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
