Ida “LaLa” Lopez

Ida “LaLa” Lopez 87, of Rumford Towers South, Rumford R.I. died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Orchard View Manor in East Providence. She was the wife of Emmanuel Lopez. Born in Providence, she was the youngest child of the late Joaquim M. and Anna R. (Ramos-Soares) Cabral. Mrs. Lopez worked in the payroll department of the Norton Safety Company before she retired in 1996. She was a member of the East Providence Senior Center and the Rumford Towers Tenants Association.

Besides her husband she leaves one son and four daughters, Gerald A. Lopes and his companion Marcia Martin of Pittsburgh PA, Linda M. Dorch and her husband Kenneth of Boston MA, Teresa L. Hill-Gilbert and her husband Ernest of Bowling Green, KY, Leslie Lopes-Ruffin and her husband Frederick of Baltimore MD and Robin J. Lopes of East Providence, RI, three step children, Emmanuel Lopez Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Jacqueline Lopez of Silver Spring, MD and Christian Lopez of East Providence. She also leaves 14 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great, Great Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her nine siblings, Anthony Soares, John Soares, Mary Soares-Watkins, Virginia Cabral, Michael Cabral, Theresa Lopes, Dominga Silva, Rose “Georgia” Amado and Joseph Cabral.

Her funeral service and visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM with a service to follow at 12 noon at Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be private.
