Gloria M. Atkinson, 89, of Austin Avenue passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her home, 24 hours after the death of her husband, Wilfred H. Atkinson. Born in East Providence, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mabel (Cousins) Matthews. Mrs. Atkinson was a Secretary for the Atlantic Refining Company before she retired. She was also the owner & operator, along with her husband, of Bluenose Fish & Chips. She leaves one son, Scott Atkinson and his wife Margo of Taunton, one daughter in law, Tina Atkinson and six grandchildren, Courtney Fiore and her husband Matt, Meredith Atkinson and her finance Garrett Riel, Steven Atkinson, Laurie Atkinson, Tyler Atkinson and Mario Wilson. She was the mother of the late David Atkinson. Her funeral service and her husband’s funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Grace Episcopal Church, 175 Mathewson Street, Providence. Calling hours will be one-hour prior from 10-11 AM in the church. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery.
