Gilbert M. Maia, 83, of East Providence, passed away Monday August 27, 2018 at the Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Marilyn A. (Hassell) Maia. Born in East Providence, he was a son of the late Antonio and Mary (Morris) Maia. Mr. Maia was a Foreman for Lemar Advertising Company before retiring. He was an avid guitarist. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Local 391. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Deborah Reis of East Providence and Lori Hanley of Warwick, three sons, Gilbert M. Maia, Jr. of Pawtucket, Brian Maia of East Providence and Dean Maia and his wife Teresa of Somerset, two grandchildren, Crystal Legeault and Katarina Hanley, three great grandchildren, Olivia, Mia and Luke Legeault and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lillian Benoit, Anthony and Ronald Maia. His funeral will be held on Friday August 31, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-8.
