Esmeria T. Medeiros Leather
Esmeria T. Medeiros Leather, 82, of Rumford passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, May 11, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of Edmund R. Leather.
She was born in Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel, Azores a daughter of the late Jose Manuel Teixeira and Maria Jose Arruda. Mrs. Leather was a school teacher at East Providence High School for 25 years before she retired. She was a graduate of Rhode Island College where she obtained her Undergraduate Degree and her Masters Degree. After retiring from teaching , she and her husband joined the United States Foreign Service and lived and traveled extensively overseas. She was a member of the Bible Study Fellowship.
Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Charles M. Medeiros, MD and his wife Diana of Rumford and Paul T. Medeiros and his wife Pixie of Barrington, two stepdaughters, Carole E. Davis and her husband Henry of Delaware and Robin J. Leather of West Greenwich, seven grandchildren, Jenna, Gregory, Victoria, Grey, David, Samuel and Katherine, two sisters, Leonor Teixeira and Helena Abreu and her husband Jose Avelino and two brothers, Eduardo Teixeira and Antonio Manuel Teixeira.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM in St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 50 Orchard Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Rumford Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 PM in the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
