Ellsworth M. "Chuck" Garrity, Jr.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Ellsworth M. "Chuck" Garrity, Jr., 89, a former longtime resident of Garrity Road in Lee, New Hampshire, and resident of Seekonk, MA for several years, died Monday, August 29, 2016, in East Providence, Rhode Island. He was born June 1, 1927, in Exeter, New Hampshire, the son of Ellsworth and Bertha (Kimball) Garrity Hadfield. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during W.W.II. By trade he was an electrician and following his retirement he was employed by Foster's Daily Democrat and later the Portsmouth Herald. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce (Smith) Garrity, his longtime companion, Cindy Lesperance, one son, Steven, one daughter, Kathy and two granddaughters, Kim and Colleen. He is survived by four sons, James, Ellsworth "Butch" III, Michael and Wayne; one daughter, Linda; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister and two brothers. Services: a Funeral Mass will be held on Sat. 9/10/16, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal church, Tiverton, RI 02878. The burial will be at a later date in the family lot on Garrity Road in Lee, New Hampshire.
