Edmundo M. Couto, age 84, of Woodward Ave., died June 5, 2017 at home. He was the beloved husband of Deolinda F. (Fernandes). Born in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores he was the son of the late Francisco and Maria Isabel (Garcia) do Couto.

He worked as a machine operator for American Insulated Wire for 46 years, retiring in 2000.

In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his daughter Isabel M. Couto of East Providence.

He was the brother of Angelina Santos of Sao Miguel, Azores, Maria Jose Costa of N. Providence, Luis M. Couto of East Providence, Jose M. Couto and wife Amelia of Johnston and the late Ermelinda Pereira, Aldina Paiva, Hilda Cabral and Francisco do Couto Almeida.

His funeral will begin on Friday at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, N. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5-8pm.
