Edith L. (Kniveton) Seifert, 93, a lifelong resident of Riverside, RI, passed away peacefully at the Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Center on July 26,2019.

Edith the daughter of the late Ernest and Grace (Houghtaling) Kniveton, was born on August 8, 1925. She was the wife of the late Raymond A. Seifert, to whom she was married to for 44 years.

Edith was a past president and lifetime member of the Oldham school PTA; she was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Riverside, RI. She also worked and helped run the Cobweb Thrift Shop where she was a lifetime member of the Riverside Congregational Church and U.C.C. She was also a member of various groups within the churches.

Edith is survived by her three children, Paul R. Seifert and his wife Marilynn of Cumberland, Joan E. (Seifert) Hofer of Riverside, and David C. Seifert of Riverside. She was the mother of the late Richard L. Seifert. She is also survived by four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dorothy (Kniveton) Hall and William L. Kniveton.

Edith’s children would like to acknowledge the love, support and compassionate care of her CNA Home health aide nurses and the Hope Health Hospice Care Team. We appreciate all that they have done to help her live the last couple of months with dignity.

Calling hours will be held Friday August 2, 2019 from 5:00-6:00 PM in the Smith-mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI 02915 with a memorial service to immediately follow at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to: Hope Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or Riverside Congregational Church, 15 Oak Avenue, Riverside, RI 02915.
