EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The city of East Providence has closed Weaver Library to the public until further notice due to a member of the library staff testing positive for COVID-19. No illness has been determined as the person is asymptomatic presently, according to Patricia Resende of the Mayor's office.

Contact tracing has begun and all staff members who came in contact with the employee will remain in quarantine and will follow the Rhode Island Dept. of Health’s guidelines.

During the closure, Weaver Library (located at 41 Grove Ave.) will be fully disinfected for the safety and wellbeing of the staff and community at large. Out of an abundance of caution, Riverside Branch Library, located at 475 Bullocks Point Ave., will also be closed. All online services will remain available. Please visit the East Providence Library’s calendar of events https://www.eastprovidencelibrary.org/ecwd_calendar/calendar/  for access to virtual programs.
