Dorvalino F. Araujo

Dorvalino F. Araujo, 86, of Freeborn Avenue, passed away Saturday August 11, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Conceicao A. (deAlmeida) Araujo to whom he was married 59 years. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in January.

Born in Lomba do Cavaleiro, Povoação, São Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Antonio and Odilia (Ferreira) Araujo.

Mr. Araujo was a machine operator for Marshall & Williams Company for 21 years before retiring in 1997. He came to this country from the Azores in 1970 and has been a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church since 1972. After his retirement, Mr. Araujo enjoyed going back every year to his home in Sao Miguel. He was an avid gardener and will always be remembered for growing the most beautiful flowers. His greatest love was his family and spending time with his two great grandchildren Heidi and Jacob.

Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, Cidalia Rodrigues and her husband Joe, Cesarina Hanson and her husband James, Odilia Paiva and her husband Joseph and Dorvalina Furtado,RN and her husband Emanuel, one sister, Maria Fatima Ferreira, one brother, Jose Araujo, 13 grandchildren, Joshua and Fr. Jeremy Rodrigues and Tiffany Tiberio, James, Jon, Diana and Dr. Stephanie Hanson, Alexander and Nicholas Paiva and Kristen, Victoria, Briana and Kaityln Furtado and 6 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Humberto Araujo.

His funeral will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 79 North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-8. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Francis Xavier Church would be appreciated.
