Dorothy (DeFreitas) Souza, 67, formerly of Hazelwood Ave., East Providence, the owner of Positive New Beginnings Holistic and Wellness Center, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center.

Born July 4, 1950, in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Luiz and Beatrice (Goveia) DeFreitas.

She leaves her son, James L. DeFreitas of Las Vegas, NV, and her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Michael Stawicki of East Providence; her grandson Austin and granddaughter Madison. She was also the sister of Rose DaSilva of NC.

Her funeral will begin Tuesday, Apr. 3, at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Martha’s Church, 2595 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, Apr. 2, from 5pm until 8pm.
