Spent three years at Esquire and then moved to Rhode Island. In R.I., he worked in advertising, first with Horton Noyes advertising then Prutzman Associates, before forming his own art studio in 1962. Patrick, his longtime friend who began Foremost publishers, ventured in book publishing. For the next decade, Paulhus designed coffee table type books. Through 1980s and 90s, Don designed over 145 books. In 1972, he was named Rhode Island Art Director of the year. One of the original founders of the Rhode Island Art Directors Club, Mr. Paulhus served two years as President. An avid golfer, and a member of Wannamoisett Country Club since 1968, Don served on the Board of Governors in 1984-86. He was the club’s Archival Chairman for over 20 years. In 1998, Wannamoisett celebrated it’s 100th Anniversary, and Paulhus, serving on the anniversary committee, designed, researched, wrote and produced it’s 144 page Centennial book. Mr. Paulhus, a member of the Providence Art Club since 1958, was made an Honorary member in 1998.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, Patricia Coroso (John) of West Hartford, Conn., Donald G.
