Darlene J. Lema, 65, of Anthony Street, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the loving wife of David Lema.

Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Edith M. (Clarke) O’Brien. Darlene worked for Ocean State Community Resources as a Direct Support Professional before she retired. She previously was the manager of the shoe department at Apex in Pawtucket and Stride Rite at the Emerald Square Mall. She was active with the Rhode Island Racing Pigeon Club with her husband. Her greatest love was for her family. She had a close relationship and strong connection with all of her grandchildren. Her love for them was unconditional and they in turn shared the same connection with her. She always worried about her family first and put herself second. She will be deeply missed.

Besides her husband she leaves three daughters, Dina M. Lema, Denise M. Lema and Danielle M. Lema, three sons, David Lema, Michael Lema and Steven Lema, all of East Providence, eight grandchildren, Rui and his fiancé Kayla, Thomas, Xavier, Nyia, Joshua, Maddox and Braxtyn, one great grandchild, Baby Rui and one half brother, Scott O’Brien. She was the sister of the late David O’Brien, Caren Moroney, Meredith Sankey, Virginia Wood, Barbara Muzzy, Gail Romano, Robert O’Brien and half-sister of the late Kathleen O’Brien.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 9:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-8.
