Charles E. Golden, Sr.

Charles E. Golden, SR., 86, formerly of Dartmouth Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on January 14, 2021 at Tockwotton on the Waterfront surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Flanagan) Golden, whom he was married to for 55 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Thomas and Mary (Unsworth) Golden, he lived in East Providence and Riverside all his life.

Mr. Golden was a Teacher for the East Providence School Department for many years and then moved on to the School Departments Administration.

Charles was a graduate of LaSalle Academy Class of 1951. He received his Bachelors of Science in Education at Bryant University and then went on to receive his Master's degree in Education at Providence College.

Mr. Golden was a communicant and usher at St. Brendan's Church, Riverside for over 50 years. He was a member of the East Providence Knights of Columbus Council #1528. He was a founding member of the Rhode Island Ski Runners Association. He enjoyed skiing, bicycling, traveling and was an avid book reader.
He is survived by a son, Charles E. Golden Jr. and his wife Deborah Anne (Ganzer) Golden of Lincoln and two grandsons, Jack Golden and his wife Ariana of Mendon, MA and Kevin Golden of Lincoln. He was the brother of the late Thomas Golden, Marion Moran and Barbara Larned.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside on Thursday January 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. The Mass will be live streamed at www.stbren.com. A private graveside burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
