Celeste Francis Griffin

Celeste Francis Griffin, 98, of East Providence, died Monday, April 30, 2018 at Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Ira S. Griffin & Myrtie (Feltham) Griffin.

Miss Griffin was a 1941 graduate of Pembroke College where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and a 1965 graduate of Brown University where she received her Master of Arts Degree. As alumna, she served as treasurer of her class and on the reunion committees. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where she was released from active duty with the rank of Lieutenant. She was employed as an administrator with Brown University from 1948-1985, Pembroke College Office of Educational Measurement & Institutional Research until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Pembroke Club of Providence, Hamilton House, Newman YMCA.

She leaves her loving sister, Marilee Jordan of Bristol and one niece, many nephews, & great-nieces & nephews.

Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Redwood Chapel of Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence. Cremation to follow. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements have been entrusted to J.H. Williams & Co. Funeral Home, 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence.
