Carolyn L. (Olander) Swanson


Carolyn L. (Olander) Swanson, 85, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Evergreen House in East Providence. She was the wife of Walter E. Swanson. Born June 3, 1934 in Boston, MA, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Grace (Nelson) Olander. Carolyn loved her family and friends. She was very active in her community and her church. She volunteered at the Corliss Center in Warren, RI for 11 years. She also volunteered for several years at Tap-In food bank in Barrington, RI. She worked for the former Barrington College for 11 years and the phone company for 1 year. Carolyn was very involved in her church and served in a number of capacities including the missions board for several years, deaconess for many years and also helped in pioneer girls, VBS, and the nursery. She also played the hand bells which she enjoyed so much. Besides her husband she leaves one son, Paul Swanson of Warren, one daughter, Amy Gildemeister and her husband Juan of Michigan, three grandchildren, Erik Gildemeister, Grace Lloyd and her husband Ryan and Ben Gildemeister all of Michigan, son in law, Jay Kile of Seekonk and brother in law, Don Latham. She was the mother of the late Kristen Kile and sister of the late Margory Latham. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Barrington Baptist Church, 25 Old County Road, Barrington. Burial will be private. Calling hours respectfully omitted.
