Barrington United Methodist Church Blessing of the Animals

What is the Blessing of the Animals? This special service has a special focus on the bond we have with our animals. Through the service we are able to make them an integral part of our worship life and relationships. St. Francis of Assisi is best known for his love for all creatures. The custom of blessing animals has developed in remembrance of his love for animals. To follow in this tradition, Barrington UMC is offering a Blessing of the Animals Service in the church parking lot. It will be marked off where we will be, so parking won’t be a problem. Bring your pet (or a picture of a pet) and join us as we thank God for the gift of life and bless our animal friends. There will also be a time of silence as we honor our pet family members who have traveled over the rainbow. Please have animals leashed or in crates. Pets are important family members and enrich our lives by providing us with unconditional love and companionship. Please join us!
