Barbara K. Chace, 87, of Riverside, RI, died unexpectedly but peacefully on February 22, 2021 at RI Hospital. She was born March 25, 1933, the daughter of the late William Wheaton and Elsie Beckwith Keach of Providence and Touisset Point, Warren, RI.

Barbara graduated from Lincoln School, Class of 1950, where she made many lifelong friends. She also enjoyed friendships worldwide as an Amateur Radio Operator at her Touisset Point home. For many years, Barbara served in a secretarial capacity for the Navy League of Newport and was delighted to have boarded many important naval vessels. She viewed several America’s Cup races through League activities.

Her love of theater brought her to hundreds of theatrical productions throughout New England and on Broadway, and she performed in several productions at Barker Playhouse in Providence. For more than 40 years, Barbara thoroughly enjoyed cruising the Atlantic and Caribbean, from her first cruise on the S.S. France to her last trip on the QEII, sailing on dozens of cruise ships in-between.

She was untimely predeceased by her two dear sons, David W. Chace (54, 1953-2008) and Stephen B. Chace (47, 1955-2003). They will be interred together in the family plot at Swan Point Cemetery, with a celebration of their lives to be announced later this spring.

Those who wish to remember Barbara in a special way may make gifts in her memory to a charity of their choice. To honor Barbara’s love of nature and concern for the environment, memorial trees can be planted to help renew our U.S. national forests.
