Arthur T. Gately, Jr., of 355 Blackstone Blvd, Providence, RI (formerly of Rumford), died November 28, 2017 at the age of 90. He is survived by his faithful wife of 60+ years Helen (Sacharko) Gately. He is also survived by his sons and their families, Arthur T. Gately III and his wife Rosemary of Cumberland and Edward J. Gately and his wife Lynn of Rehoboth, MA, his grandchildren, Arthur T. Gately IV, Jillian, Shannon, Kattie and Krissy Gately.

He was the son of the late Arthur T. Gately, Sr. and Irene (O’Neill) Gately of Pawtucket. He is predeceased by his sister Arlene Laliberte.

He retired from Swank Inc. as Sr. VP of Administration after 54 years of service. He was a 1945 graduate of St. Raphael Academy and a 1949 graduate of Providence College.

He was a board member of the PC Alumni Association for two terms during which he received the “Faithful Friar” award from the National Association and the Mal Brown award from the local chapter. He was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church (Rumford), St. Aiden’s Church (Cumberland) and St. Theresa’s Church (South Attleboro).

He was a board member of the Attleboro Chamber of Commerce and Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He was a 25+ year member of Pawtucket Country Club and Ridgewood Lakes Golf and Country Club in Davenport, Florida.

Art enjoyed extensive travel with his wife Helen, taking trips throughout Europe and North America. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife to numerous cooking contests throughout the United States. Most of all he cherished his time with his family, especially his five grandchildren.
