Anthony A. “Stan” Stanis, 98, formerly of Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Harper) Stanis and the late Nancy (Harper) Short Stanis. Born in Pawtucket, he grew up on Lauder Avenue and was a son of the late Anthony and Helen (Uczkuronis) Stanis. Mr. Stanis was a cartographer for the Defense Mapping Agency before he retired. He was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church and was a member of the East Providence Council #1528, Knights of Columbus. He leaves two daughters, Christine E. Huber of North Carolina and Dorothy M. Darcy of North Kingstown, two sons, Michael A. Stanis of Virginia and Stephen J. Stanis of East Providence and six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Joseph Stanis, Helen Reynolds, Stella Araujo and Jennie R. Kachanis. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8.
