Anne Mason Bowen Feiten passed away peacefully at The Hattie Ide Chaffee Home on October 27, 2023.

Anne was born in Providence, RI on October 11, 1917, to Grace Mason of Taunton, Massachusetts and Ralph Mason of Providence, RI. Anne and her beloved brother, Lee, had an idealic childhood growing up on Everett Avenue in Providence, RI. She often shared great stories about the life long friends they made and the adventures they had!. She enjoyed many wonderful years at Gordon School; attended Wheeler School and graduated from Hope High School in 1934, in the middle of the Great Depression. After attending Katherine Gibbs School, she moved to NYC; lived with her brother and worked at Scudder, Stevens and Clark. She made wondeful friends there and definitely enjoyed all that NYC had to offer!

In 1946, Anne met Richard Arnold Bowen, through a friendship with his first wife, who had sadly passed away. Anne and Richard married and lived on Olney Street in Providence, RI. They then moved to Hornbine Street in Rehobeth, Massachusetts and raised two daughters, Susanne Bowen Toothaker and Carolyn Bowen Gurley. Richard was the Treasurer of Wanskuck Textile Company. They then moved to Providence , where Richard worked for Manufacturer's Mutual Fire Insurance that eventually evolved into Allendale Insurance, where he was the Treasurer. Anne cared for her family and balanced life with volunteering for Wheeler School, Planned Parenthood and Central Congregational Church. She also loved to hook rugs and sew.

After Richard's death in 1973, she met Bill Feiten at the annual "Campus Dance" at Brown University, where both Richard and Bill attended. They were married in 1976 and lived happily in Los Altos, California for the next 22 years. They enjoyed travelling all around California in a camper and had many wonderful trips all over the world. After Bill's death, Anne returned to RI, lived on Medway Street; then East Bay Retirement Home and finally, at age 100, moved to Hattie Ide Chaffe Home. Her family is indebted to the wonderful, caring staff at Hattie Ide, who along with Hope Hospice, took incredible care of her until her death.

Anne is survived by her daughter, Susanne and husband Barry Toothaker of Barrington, who cared ceaselessly for her; by her daughter Carolyn and husband John Gurley of Falmouth, Maine, who made many trips up and down Rt. 95!;

by her grandchildren, Carolyn (Paul) Sluberski, Matthew (Amy), Ben (partner Erin) and Stuart (Caitlin); by her great grand-children, Luke, Charlie and Hudson Sluberski and Ella Toothaker, and Anna and August Gurley.

She is also survived by her three beloved nephews, David Mason (the late Margaret Mason), Bob Mason (Carol) and Bill Mason (Virginia) and their children, who have always remained close to her.

Her burial will be private and a celebration of her life will be held in the Spring. Donations in her name may be made to Hope Hospice of RI and The Hattie Ide Chaffee Home in Riverside, RI.
