Anita B. Corrigan, 83, formerly of Hood Avenue, Rumford, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Tockwotton on the Waterfront. She was the wife of William E. Corrigan, Jr. for 61 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Aldea (Camire) Berthiaume. Mrs. Corrigan was a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart School and also attended Roger Williams School of Nursing. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for the East Providence School Department from 1973-1996. Mrs. Corrigan was a member of several different organizations including, the Rumford Junior Women’s Club from 1967-1997 and also served as President from 1979-1980, General Federation of Womens’ Clubs, Junior Director-Rhode Island, 1967-1994, Chairperson, Community Improvement Program, National Education Association-Rhode Island, Board of Directors, 1976-2014 and National Education Association-Rhode Island Retirees, Treasurer, 1996-2012 and Emerita, 2013-2021.

Besides her husband she leaves three children, Cathleen D. Corrigan of East Providence, Robert P. Corrigan and his wife Donna of East Providence and William E. Corrigan, III and his wife Jean of Lawrence, Kansas, four sisters, Sr. Cecile Berthiaume of the Sisters of St. Chretienne, Lillian Rose, Jeanne Mercier and Helen Ashley and five grandchildren.

Her funeral services will be private. She will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence. Contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 would be appreciated.
