Beatrice F. (Moura) Tavares

Beatrice F. (Moura) Tavares, 89, formerly of Walmer Avenue passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of Manuel Tavares, Jr. to whom she was married 70 years. IVI Born in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Anthony Moura and Lena (Medeiros) Moura- Gonsalves. Mrs. Tavares was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and also a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was a secretary for the P.T.A. at the former St. Francis Xavier School. Besides her husband she leaves four daughters, Cynthia E. Smith and her husband Michael, Ruth E. Bryan and her husband Gene, Jeanne R. Raposa and her husband Skip and Janice B. Tavares, two sons, Bryan J. Tavares and his wife Karen and Kevin A. Tavares, eleven grandchildren, Bryan Tavares, Jr., Julie Ann Brooks, Brooke Brink, Gary Tillou, Jr., Rebecca Butler, Jason Tavares, Kelly Auger, Amy Raposa, Justin Barone, Jessica Barone and Kayla Tavares, one sister, Bernadette Gouveia and fifteen great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Matthew Blackmar and Derek Raposa and sister of the late Anthony Moura, Jr., Lena Portrais and Doris Lee. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8.
